Images of Roma and Sinti - Visual Repository

The database collects images and texts representing Roma and Sinti in European newspapers and magazines from 1919 to 1939/40.

The research data (reproductions of newspaper pages, selected photos, information on photographers and the historical context, including metadata, keywords and indexes) are researched and analysed as part of the research project “Representing Roma and Sinti”. The image database is managed by UNIDAM, the University of Vienna's digital asset management system, which was developed specifically for research and teaching. UNIDAM is maintained by the PHAIDRA Services Team, Research and Publication Services, University of Vienna / University Library.

Once the research project is complete, the visual repository ‘Images of Roma and Sinti’ will be publicly accessible and searchable via this website.
