Roma and Sinti in Photography

In his lecture (in German), Anton Holzer provides an insight into his research project “Representing Roma and Sinti”. Using numerous photographic examples, he reconstructs the role of photography and the media in the public portrayal of the minority since the mid-19th century. He addresses the long-term effects of media images and explores strategies that can be developed to counteract simplistic and stereotypical portrayals.
